A Week Long Full of Adventures

To rush in and out of town just for the marathon would be to miss out on so much action.
One should take at least a few days to immerse oneself in the many activities on offer both in Ile Ife and in nearby Ikogosi Warm Springs or in the Olumirin Waterfalls.

Anytime from 12 noon :Participants and Supporters arrive Lagos Nigeria and check into the Lagos hotel

 
Friday February 2, 2018

8:00am: Participants and Supporters leave Lagos for Ile -Ife  via Osogbo where  the Osun Osogbo Sacred Grove, a UNESCO World Heritage site will be visited.

Thereafter, there will be a stop at Nike Centre for Arts and culture, where the birth of contemporary African art  was heralded. Get ready to get lost to the beats of traditional drummers and dancers before  settling down to a sumptuous meal

Saturday February 3, 2018
6am:   An organized 5km run (optional)
10am: Time to pick up race bags, visit the Obafemi Awolowo University Museum and tour the marathon route
2pm: Late lunch at the Ooni's Palace whilst having a peep into the running life of one very Special Runner.
6pm: Free Time


Sunday February 4, 2018
6am: Race Starts
6pm: Celebration Time at the Campus Dramatic Arts Department


Monday February 5, 2018
6am: Organized Recovery Run (Optional)
11am: Check out and travel to Lagos or continue to Ikogosi Ekiti where lies the meeting point of a Warm Spring and Cold a Spring. http://ikogosiresort.net/
The day will be spent in this rural western Nigerian village where you will be once again in touch with nature in the form of rolling hills and lush green vegetation. Don't forget your swimming gear so you can soak yourself in the warm pool fed directly by the warm Spring claimed to have therapeutic properties.

10am: Check out from the resort and head back for Lagos with a stop over at Olumirin Waterfalls in Erin Ijesha. The seven level waterfalls is a beauty to behold. Come with your hiking gear or just get wet from the splashes of the falls. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erin-Ijesha_Waterfalls
